Elements of Space
For my Elements of Space project, the other students and I were assigned a site known as The Vera Courtyard in Parsons at 66 West 12th Street. At the beginning of our site analysis, students chose a space that captured their attention, using their bodies as tools of measurement. Then, each used a program we had learned for the class, Rhinoceros, to model the entire site. My next step was to focus on the idea of five different benches within the site that were the same design, but placed away from each other with the intent of creating different view from each. In my model, I represented each bench as a different viewpoint, showing how each object appears to be a different size depending on which bench you sit on. My intent was to represent the various points of view a person sees and how they are different from one another.
